Empowering women increases the overall capacity of a community

August 31, 2018

Male agri-workers and managers agreed that their female workers add great value to the workplace and their community. Establishing a Women’s Club that can encourage and facilitate diverse, relevant and constructive activities for women became a priority for the Workers’ Committee of Lushof (Berries) Farm in Saron, Western Cape.

The committee decided to initiate and promote the idea of a Women’s Club through celebrating National Woman’s Day on the farm in a colourful, exciting and educational manner. Their preparation and programme surprised 100 – 110 women, resulting in many complements and expressions of appreciation for an effort that touched many psychologically and emotionally.

The local social media networks are still abuzz with positive communication regarding this necessary investment that was made in the lives of women who are key stakeholders in families, the workplace and broader society.
