New & exciting activities contribute to Community Wellbeing

The impact of the Waitrose Foundation’s annual conference theme, namely ‘Community Wellbeing – Beyond Physical Health’ is still evident on member farms. The theme and experience at the conference, inspired facilitators to integrate it into programmes with children on their farms. Holiday programmes were introduced where it was non-existent whilst other were improved in terms of focus and content. The stories and music of the educational computer programme that is sponsored by the Foundation, was also used to incorporate life skills such as team work, vision, goalsetting, etc. in the activities.

Young and old community members are starting to participate regularly and with great enthusiasm in games, arts and sport as well as hiking excursions, visiting museums and other outdoor activities. The belief that a healthy body supports a healthy mind is being cultivated amongst many of the Foundation’s member farms.
