A worker committee is the true engine room - the driving force - behind projects run on our partner farms, directly benefiting workers who grow, pick and pack fresh produce for Waitrose. That is why the training workshops for committees are essential not only for the successful and sustainable roll-out of projects and effectively utilising resources, but for the personal and leadership growth of committee members.
In mid-January, Raymond Engelbrecht, our Waitrose Foundation Manager Farm Support, attended the follow up training session for a group of committee members of the Lona group in Hoedspruit in the Limpopo province. Raymond's previous visit, and interaction with the group, was in mid-November.
In these photos the attendees are busy with an activity in which they are made aware of the importance to consider different perspectives and also the unique partnership between partner farms and the Foundation. The committee members had very productive training sessions together. We wish them well on their learning and leadership journey ahead.
