The Waitrose Foundation is involved with the Year Beyond programme in 2022 as a partner. YearBeyond is a Youth Service partnership between the Western Cape Government, The Community Chest of the Western Cape and various foundations and local NGOs, aiming to provide 18 to 25 year-olds with meaningful work experience and a pathway to further studies. We embarked on this partnership journey with a group of the ‘Yeboneers’ in the Koue Bokkeveld area.
These photos were taken during the academic programme attended by the group in training in Prince Alfred's Hamlet. The sessions were initially facilitated by the Ceres group's mentor, Ashlon Hamman, from Bronaar farm in the Koue Bokkeveld, supported by our Regional Coordinator, Eleanor Louw. Included in the group are young people from Waitrose Foundation partner farms in the area. We are excited about this 'ecosystem of support' created for this group as they are connected to opportunities for development, further studies and employment.
