In mid-March our Waitrose Foundation Manager Farm Support, Raymond Engelbrecht, visited Sonop Boerdery for a weekend of activities for the worker community and management team. Sonop is one of our grower partners in the Eastern Cape, near Patensie.
These photos were captured on the Saturday during Sonop’s project follow up sessions from previous training that individual groups received via the Waitrose Foundation Central Programmes.
The activity based learning approach worked extremely well. Concepts that were reinforced through art, dance and group work included the uniqueness of each individual, their hidden potential, acknowledging and understanding diversity, an holistic view of self, family and community, as well as the interconnectedness between home and work.
We greatly appreciated the Sonop management team’s arrangements to gather the group of workers together over the weekend and for everyone's active and enthusiastic participation. There was a lot of laughter and fun, as is evident from the photos. We look forward to our next visit to continue this growth journey with Sonop.
