April 2024
Two of our young entrepreneurs enrolled in our Youth Development Programme (in partnership with the School of Entrepreneurship), attended a Chess Coaching Level 1 Training for Trainers Course at the South African Chess Hub in Durbanville.
We are extremely proud of Bradley Patoshie and Donovan de Bruin, pictured here, both from Sanddrif, WK Beukes Boerdery in De Doorns. Their training is supported by the Waitrose Foundation as well as Moira Daniels, one of our Western Cape based service providers, who also travelled with them from De Doorns for the full day's training. The course was presented at Curro Durbanville Primary School.
Content included in the training day | Module 1: Overcoming Barriers to Learning
Objective: To identify common barriers to learning chess and to develop strategies for overcoming these, especially in a virtual learning environment.
Module 2: Role and Qualities of a Chess Coach
Objective: To understand the evolving role of a chess coach in the digital age and to master the essential qualities that make a successful coach.
Module 3: Chess Fundamentals

We're very excited to follow Bradley and Donovan's progress as Chess Coaches and how they will use this in their personal and career development going forward!
