Farm manager, Easton Marsch, from Lushof Fruits in Saron in the Western Cape provided us with photos of a recently completed installation of exercise equipment on the farm. The worker committee identified a project for their Waitrose funding application which they agreed would greatly benefit their workers. The plan was to erect an outdoor gym on the farm which the workers and their families could use to boost their fitness and which would also serve as a place where they could relax and socialise after work while using the equipment.
The project was approved and earlier in May the equipment was delivered and installed. The workers were extremely excited to start making use of the facility and enjoy the benefits of physical exercise. The reality of COVID-19 remains front of mind at this time and the equipment is used in a way that is safe and appropriate within the current regulations.
