Sanddrift Afterschool Centre

The Waitrose Foundation’s Field Manager, Hilda Links and Educational Facilitator, Eleanor Louw, recently visited Sanddrift farm in De Doorns region of the Western Cape. The focus for the visit was to empower the project coordinator on the farm to do the necessary preparations to manage the training facility where 35 children will be engaging in educational and other activities. The process included:

• Preparation for the worker committee meeting to report on project progress;
• Preparing for parent meetings and how the centre will operate; and
• Creating daily programmes and planning for the optimum use of all classrooms.

Positive growth, development and learning will be the desired outcomes and there is a lot of excitement for the way forward with this project.
