Waitrose Foundation At Work

CAMI is still connecting communities

November 2018

The investment of the Waitrose Foundation in a computer software programme namely CAMI (Computer Aided Mathematics Instruction) is still yielding good fruit in the Creches and Aftercare Centres of partner farms. This was seen during a recent visit to Crookes Brothers Farm in Grabouw, Western Cape where the interconnectedness between the farm’s aftercare centre and the local school is evident.   The impact of the use of the CAMI Educational software is spreading beyond academic support for learners to inspiring parents/workers towards further education and now connecting the farming community to local schools. This improved partnership also strengthens the social support system of children and families.

The educational partnership is long-term, intervenes as early as possible in the lives of children, prepares them for school and then contributes to student retention until they complete matric.
